Without the Resurrection, the Cucifixion of Jesus would be one of many such local tragedies under the Roman Empire: a known innocent man brutally tortured and excruciatingly executed; a horrible grief for the family and friends of the executed man. Without the Cucifixion, the Resurrection of Jesus would be a remarkable miracle, but one of three such resurrections in the ministry of Jesus, which was characterized by miracles. Had Jesus only been crucified, it is likely that He would be lost to history; had He only been resurrected, it is still likely that He would be forgotten today. Together, Jesus's Crucifixion and Resurrection give believers forgiveness, peace, meaning, purpose, power, and eternal hope. And believers - sometimes imperfectly - have written, with a diamond stylus, the Name of Jesus across history.
