| The board administrator has requested that all new registered users must agree to the following terms before registering and using the services on the board "The Annoyed Army". Please read the following terms and if you agree to them, select the "I agree" button found at the bottom of the terms. |
These are the posting rules for this site. They are intended to make this as pleasant an experience as possible for as many people as possible, and also to protect this site from any legal liabilities. Make sure you read them carefully before you begin posting.- Email Address - As of March 08, 2010, we can only accept new account registrations with email addresses provided by your ISP (Internet Service Provider). We can no longer accept registrations linked to free email accounts. Examples of free account providers are hotmail.com, yahoo.com, juno.com, and gmail.com. This means that from now on, your email address on registration must be a valid address from a recognized ISP company such as verizon.net, att.net, comcast.com, or earthlink.net, etc. Work email addresses are NOT acceptable. You must continue to maintain a valid ISP provided email address in your profile at all times. We have had to ban members several times for reregistering under new names after having been previously banned, using these free email accounts. Membership comes with accountability, and those free email service providers insulate members from that accountability. All members currently in good standing as of the above date who have one of these free addresses may continue to use that address.
- Valid Email Address is Required - I require each member to have a valid email address in their account information at which they actually check and read email. Your registration will not be complete until you receive an email from this site that your account has been approved. I absolutely do not sell or share your email addresses with any other person or entity. Your address will be visible to the public only if you choose make it so by selecting that setting in your edit profile screen. My reasons for requiring a valid address are: 1) There are any conceivable number of situations in which I may need to be able to reach a member, during the course of my duties as site owner and administrator, through some other means than our internal u2u system. This also applies to other Administrators. There are also occasions where I may need to broadcast an emailed announcement to the membership concerning such items as server upgrades, etc. See additional email requirements written at the top this page. 2) I feel that, when you register as a user of this website, you enter into a relationship of sorts with me. You become my welcome and valued guests. When you provide me with a valid email address, it is your sign of good faith that you acknowledge this relationship of host and guest and that you value the service this site provides to you.
- Flaming - Unequivocally Verboten! Flaming of other members of this board is not allowed. This site is not a mosh pit. It is a discussion board, and you are to treat other members with the same courtesy you expect for yourself. Lest you have low expectations for how you want to be treated, let me warn you that my expectations are very high. Members assume sole responsibility for the content of their posts. We do not screen messages before they are posted. In keeping with our mission of providing civil discourse, posts deemed disruptive, inflammatory, defamatory, or otherwise not conducive to the goals of this board may be deleted, and the staff reserves the right to edit or delete any post, and suspend or revoke posting privileges of any member, without notice. Failure to adhere to posting rules after several warnings, may result in banning as a last resort. Once banned, you will never be allowed to post on this site again.
- Political Mudslinging - All past and present elected or appointed government officials are to be referred to by their proper title and name. For instance, "President Bush" and "Former President Clinton" is good. "Shrub" and "Clintoon" is bad. Be bad, get slapped down. By me. Permanently. (Addendum: Once you have properly referenced a political figure's title and name, you may make further referrals within that post by name only. Ex: "President Bush spoke to Congress today to deliver an important message. In his speech, Bush said...")
- Copyright Infringement - All materials quoted from sources other than this website are to adhere to the following:
- All quoted text is to be contained within quote tags. For an explanation of how to do that, see our FAQ page.
- Limit all quotes to not more than 250-300 words maximum. If the source material is less than 250-300 words, do not quote it in its entirety. Our goal is to point the reader to the original article, not to post all or most of it here.
- All topics started with a quoted article must be titled with the title of the article quoted.
- All materials quoted from another Internet site must have a link back to the quoted material. This precludes quoting material that requires a PAID membership on the part of the viewer in order to read it.
- All quoted materials must also give the publication name, author, title, and publishing date.
- All material posted in The Annoyed Army's forums must either be composed by the one posting it or be posted with proper attribution in conformance with The Annoyed Army's rules with regard to copyrighted material. If the material was received in an e-mail, the source of the material must be found by the member wishing to post it so that the author and online publication can receive proper recognition in the post. If such attribution cannot be found, the e-mailed material should not be posted.
There is one, and ONLY one, exception, and that is for jokes. All jokes are to be posted in the Humor forum, and not as threads in any other forum. THIS IS A FAMILY RATED SITE, AND ALL POSTED JOKES MUST BE APPROPRIATE FOR THIS STANDARD. "Jokes" does not include funny stories that are supposedly true. Such a story would require proper attribution - unless it actually happened to you. In that case, it would properly belong in a different forum, such as "Family Life."
- Party Affiliation/Political Philosophy - All political views are welcome here. I don't care what your party affiliation is, or from which part of the political spectrum you hail - as long as you can agree to the rules of this board.
- Forum Wars - The Internet is a big place and there is room for all points of view. We do not quote and/or parse here at AnnoyedMan.com that which is said on other discussion boards. The proper place for that is on the board in question - not here. It is unethical to do so, and there may be legal issues involved.
- Image Files - We do not permit the posting or linking of image files in any way, shape, or form, including the linking to avatar images on other websites. If you have a custom avatar that you would like to use, email it to me (send me a u2u, and I'll give you my email address), and I will edit, size appropriately and upload your image to the website and then link to it in your profile. Otherwise, we strongly urge you to use one of the avatars in the collection we provide. We have thousands of images to select from. Custom avatars must be appropriate for display on this site. I will not permit any avatars that are pornographic or satanic in nature.
- I reserve the right to add to, or edit these rules as circumstances require.
If I or one of the moderators see an infraction, You will be contacted by U2U message first, if at all possible. You will have 12 hours from the time the message was sent, to make any necessary edits to your post. After that, we will edit the post ourselves.
My philosophy is this: I am a generally nice guy, and I try to maintain an open door policy. But I can only tolerate B.S. for about 5 seconds before my Bullometer pops a gasket. I have no patience for it. So, with that in mind, only adults are allowed to post here. Adulthood is determined by your level of wisdom and maturity, not by your age. If you want to act like a big spoiled baby, go do it somewhere else. I'm far too annoyed about most things to tolerate any quislings among us. I will not dispute any of these rules with anybody. This is my site. I pay the rent. I decide the rules. I decide whether or not you are following them. And, I decide whether or not your membership remains active.
Other than that, I sincerely do hope that you will enjoy your membership here. If you have any questions about these rules, or if you wish to draw my attention to what you feel is a violation by someone else, contact me, or one of the Administrators or Moderators throught the U2U feature, or click on the "REPORT" button on the upper right corner of the offending post and submit your complaint, and I or a staff member will be certain to follow up on your concerns.
