You Can Help Our Military Personnel
We have had several links posted in various threads over the past few months which link to other websites that tell us, in very specific ways, how we
can directly contribute to the welfare of our nation's military personnel and their families. I have created this new forum as a centralized location
to list those links, and I will be linking this page permanently in our page headers, as well as in our portal page. ~~ TAM
I have set this up so that no replies may be posted, because I don't want this thread to become a discussion. If you, the members, have similar links
that you would like to see added to this list, send them by either email or u2u to one of the admins - that would be Towanda, need2no, or me - and we will add them to this list.
Listed here in no particular order of preference or importance:- AnySoldier.com - Want to send a care package to Any Soldier in Harm's Way, but have no idea of what to send, who to send it to,
or how to send it?
- WoundWarriorProject.org - The Wounded Warrior Project seeks to assist
those men and women of our armed forces who have been severely injured during the conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere around the world.
- Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund - Their dedication often has a price. Department of
Defense statistics indicate 1,854 Marines were wounded in Operation Iraqi Freedom from March 19, 2003 through September 4, 2004. While the Marine
Corps goes above and beyond to support Marines and their families, there are limits to the amount of funding available. The Injured Marine Semper Fi
Fund was formed to provide supplemental assistance to our Marines, sailors, and their families as they face their road to recovery.
- Operation Gratitude - Hundreds of thousands of American troops are stationed or
deployed indefinitely in remote parts of the world, including the Persian Gulf, Afghanistan, Africa, the Korean Peninsula and on ships throughout
international waters. The physical conditions they must endure are difficult and they may be separated from loved ones for long periods of time.
OPERATION GRATITUDE, together with the California Army National Guard, 746th QM BN, Van Nuys, seek to lift troops' morale, and bring a smile to their
faces by sending Care Packages to service members overseas. OPERATION GRATITUDE Care Packages contain food, toiletries, necessities, entertainment
items and personal letters of appreciation, all wrapped with good wishes of love and support.
- USTroopsCarePackage.com - "U.S. Troop Care Package" was founded on March 19,
2003, the beginning of the Iraq war and relies 100% upon volunteers, donations, and financial contributions from the community to send Care Packages
to our U.S. Troops.
- U.S.O. - The great intangible of America's
wars beyond logistics, beyond strategy, beyond wonder weapons and Generals, is the spiritual force of its fighting men and women - and that is the
force that the USO so magnificently serves.
- AmericaSupportsYou.mil - Thousands of Americans are already showing their
support. You can join the team, send messages to the troops, and obtain materials for developing your own support program.
- Soldier
Ride - Join the ride or support a rider, this is an awesome event to raise money for wounded soldiers. Gary Sinise (Lt. Dan in Forest Gump) is
heavily involved in this worthy cause.
- Send a Card to A Recovering American Soldier:

Here's a special e-mail Mike Coons got from his cousin in Iraq:
| Quote: |
Our post is right next to the city, which makes it very convenient for us. I have been going out on a few laison missions with our commander at his
insistance so I don't get bored to death staying on post. The people here are more than willing to accept our help in putting their country
together.
The kids break my heart because they are so cute and enjoy talking to us. Most go to school on a regular daily schedule like we have and are very
smart. Many speak English quite well. If you know of anyone who is willing to donate stationary, pencils, coloring books or any type of school
supplies it would be greatly appreciated. They love that kind of stuff.

If you want to help Mike's cousin, just send Mike a U2U and ask him for the address...

Our Annoyed Man has discovered another way to contribute to the welfare of our soldiers. Actor, Gary Sinise, is very involved in this effort and they
can use all the help they can get.
