The Briefing Room, Friday, July 11, 2008

Good Morning, Annoyed Army!

Another summer weekend is upon us.
Are you in a place having extreme heat? Near any wildfires? Getting some rain? Just about perfect where you are?
There is a boatload of news out there waiting to be discussed RIGHT HERE.
Come on in and *let’s talk*.

I dunno how it is in northern New Mexico Tow but down south we have been having a strong monsoon flow and lots of rain. A couple of inches in the past
few days.(about as much as I have experienced in total here in the last 2 years? Could this just be the effect of "Global Warming" ?
Isn't it great how politics reveals the darkness in human souls? Jacksons utterances reveal to me his jealousy of Senator Obamas popularity and they
reveal a crack in his carefully manufactured pseudo importance. He is after all just a loudmouthed racial opportunist .

Mornin', folks!
I guess I can't complain about the weather, gonna be in the upper 80os to lower 90os for the weekend and then upper
70os for next week. No rain in sight, which is typical for July and August.
The police shooting in Silverton on June 30th is still getting international attention. The victim's mother is due here today. There still has been
no information from the authorities which is what's getting the family (and the Irish press) so upset.

mugs ~ Lots of rain here (at least lots for NM). We get rain nearly every afternoon, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. Our flowers, shrubs and
trees are loving it and greening up good. Even the desert is looking a little green.
The locals are saying it was a very early monsoon season, and are wondering how long it will last. It's bringing some really nice comfortable
temperatures, too.

I hope this recent event will signify the end of Jesse Jackson...but I don't know ... the MSM has a hard time giving up their heroes, even the ones
who are foul-mouthed race baiters.

Seems that Madonna is into baseball players.
Just days after all the talk about her interest in Alex Rodriguez, former baseball star Jose Canseco is claiming Madonna wanted to have an affair with
him. Never went anyplace.
Oh! The exciting lives of celebrities!!!
Go here if you just need to know more details.

It's a picture perfect day here and I've been sitting on the deck with a cup o' watching the hot air ballons against the mountain backdrop. Wow,
what a great way to wake up.

Yup, out here in the West where it cools off significantly at night, hot air balloons are a frequent early morning sight. (You need the cool air so
that the hot air inside the envelope has enough lift.)

Mark Steyne is sitting in for Rush today. He's great! He started out his broadcast by claiming that Speaker Pelosi and Sen. McCain got together and
compromised on the "Fairness Doctrine" and "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" and, voila! A Canadian sitting in for Rush!
Hot air balloons... what a sight that must be! We don't get too many of them in Florida. They're out there somewhere, I've seen them come out for
holiday celebrations and stuff, but you don't see them around very often. I'm sure it must have something to do with Ike's observation about cool
air being needed for lift-- there's not much of that around here!

They have a hot air balloon festival every year in a neighboring town. I haven't been to one yet.
The weather here is almost perfect today. It's not as humid as the last 2 weeks and you can actually breathe when you go outside.
Senator Obama signs are starting to appear on the lawns in town, but so far, my neighborhood is neutral.

I heard Rush say yesterday that Mark Steyn would be his fill-in today, and I have been looking forward to it ever since.
I wish Rush would take more days off and have Steyn as his sub.
Been great so far!

ALBUQUERQUE'S BALLOON FIESTA is in October. We have only been once before in the
past, and that was just a quick visit.
This year I am REALLY looking forward to it.

I'm loving Steyn's riccochets off of Jesse Jackson's quote and Sen Obama's embarassment that Americans aren't bi-lingual (after commenting that
he'd be happy if American were just plain "lingual"! )... and has
translated Jackson's quote in French and German, in case Jackson want's to comment on Sen. Obama in the presence of a French or German speaker!
I love the way the way he takes two disperate ideas and combines them!
And I love that accent!

We've started a welcome cooling trend. No fires near us but smoke has been filtering the sunlight in San Jose and Livermore for several
weeks.
Jackson got away with his racist remark about the Jews in NYC; "touching" the MSM's current anointed may prove a different matter (if so, rid
goodance!).

Afternoon All !!
Warm and sunny in NJ today. Humidity's been falling with the inflow of a Canadian high. Just in time to harden off the wheat, too.
From the 'Sick of It' file: I'm already sated with comments and criticism re Jesse Jackson's supposed flub. I say "supposed" because no one
in this household can believe anyone with Jackson's media experience could make such an error. Armstronging for a cabinent post, yes. Mr. Jackson
has honed a fine technique in that arena.
From the 'Here We Go - Again' file: Sales/orders for wood stoves and other alternative heating sources are soaring on threat of $4 plus heating
oil this winter. Fire companies are gearing up to combat the inevitable rash of house fires, as well. Expect homeowner insurance companies to raise
rates, too.
Have a good evening. >MW

Okay, I am confused.
Brett Favre says he wants the Green Bay Packers to release him so that he can return to the NFL with another team.
Or wait - does he really want to retire as he has said in the past in a weepy news conference?
Is the Packers organization as confused as I am?
