September at Mimi's Place
Fall is in the air at Mimi’s…
September - School is beginning again and so is football season!
Cooler days are in the forecast. Soon the leaves will begin to turn color.
We can start to get out our warmer clothes.
Here in New Mexico, the smell of green chile roasting is in the air. And soon our local apple orchard will have their opening day for this fall.
I was wondering … do you cook differently when summer changes to fall?
Come on over to Mimi’s front porch and let’s enjoy the crisp days of early fall …. come on over even if it is still the hot summer where you are ...

I'm a bit more prone to make a pot of my 4-alarm chili or a huge pot of vegetable/beef stew on weekends during cooler weather, but other than that,
my cooking habits don't change much.
My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Same here. When the cool weather rolls around, I start thinking of making chili and soups and lasagna and homemade spaghetti sauces and casseroles
and crock pot recipes...

Do you remember and if you remember...Mimi's Place in September
Remember that wonderful song? I feel like this will be a great month. Today the sun shines and the cool breezes blow and Mimi's is freshly mowed, the
gazebo is ready to paint, and my cup is newpoured. Join me in remembering the past Septembers. September is the time my husband proposed to me with a
giant fake diamond ring which I proudly wore until we could pick out the right one.

Today is the day I've been waiting for since May. It is absolutely GORGEOUS here today with a high of 89 (I know....I know....that doesn't sound
very cool to most of you but after a high of 107 two weeks ago, it is HEAVEN to us here) and a 15 MPH breeze and 60% humidity. The only problem is
all I want to do is sit on my front porch and I have things I need to do inside.
My philosophy is if God had not intended for me to sit on my porch and enjoy the beautiful weather He provided, we would not be having this kind of
day!

Not sure why we have a second Mimi's thread started for September.

We did one of our annual New Mexico rituals today -- went into town and had a bag of green chile roasted -- brought it home and spent two hours
preparing it for the freezer. We have over 30 little bags of the green treasure for the coming year.

Feel free to merge MY post into the other thread if you'd like. I suspect what happened as LB hit the "new thread" button instead of "post
reply". I've almost done that a couple of times.

I don't really have any special September memories. I guess for me it was always the time of the year that school started -- for me and then later
for my kids.
And September meant football -- the best time of the year in high school.
Since 2001, September has only meant one thing -- and it is amazing that we are coming up on the 9th anniversary this year.
